Are dental assistant trade schools good?
No Experience Necessary
Question by Krys: Are dental assistant trade schools good?
I’m looking to go to school for dental assising. Are trade schools a good route? I’d rather not do a community college because their classes are during the day and I would love to be able to keep my day job while attending school.
I was looking into atlantic Coastal Institute in Daytona Beach FL if you have any info on them..Thanks

You can actually work as a dental assistant WITHOUT going to school first! You just need to apply to offices that state you dont need experience or that they will ‘train the right person’. Or apply to an orthodontist office.
I would tell you if you really want to become certified then attend a COMMUNITY COLLEGE. I say this from seeing the difference. I am a dental hygienist but the dental assisting students took some of the same classes as the hygiene students in our first year of school. And it made it easier for them to apply and get into the hygiene program at the same c. college if they decided to come back for hygiene later. Also the community college had way better professors AND equipment compared to the local training school in my area (I applied for a job at a training school nearby and saw the difference).
You learn more from better professors and with better equipment which you will find at a community college not at a training school. Also I think the prices are better at a c. college. Remember training schools are private schools.
