how to become a dental hygienist?

Question by thesxybeast: how to become a dental hygienist?
I’m planning on going to a local community college that provides accredited dental program. I want to finish my dental program in 2 years and take the exam and become qualified to be a dental hygienist. BUT, after getting qualified, I still want to transfer to a 4 year university such as, University of the Pacific for further education. My concern is that while I attend UOP, what should be studying if I’m already done with my dental program at a CC and alredy qualified to become a denal hygienist??
Please help! any advise will be appereciated! (:

You can get an AS then go on to get a BS in hygiene however it is really not needed unless you want to later get a masters in something, you must have a BS first to get a masters.
Also hygienists take regional exams and unlike RNs hygienists can’t always transfer their licenses from one state to another. You must stay in the REGION you took the exam or else you must RETEST in another region if you want to work there.
Meaning as a hygienist in Mass I can only move up and down the east coast. I cant move to florida or west or I probably have to retest because I took a regional exam called N.E.R.B (northeast regional board exam).
